Yes, Intercessors are in the Land!

An Open Letter from ABCCONN's President

Dear ABCCONN Pastors,

I have been meditating and reflecting on the word of God for the people of God.

As in times past, so too in our society today, God is looking for people who are willing and intentional to stand in the gap – that is, to declare God's heart with respect to the issues of the day. In Isaiah 59:16, God looked for intercessors to intervene and saw that there was no one, and He was appalled. “… So his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.” Scripture states in II Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

I concur with our Executive minister, Dr. Harry L. Riggs, II, who, in his report to ABCCONN’S 194th Annual Gathering, held on April 29, 2018, spoke of what he sees as the new context facing us at this time in Connecticut:

In addressing these four challenges, he reminds us that this is nothing new for the people of God, but that with “faith in God, hope in one another, and allowing love to be the glue that holds us together,” we can succeed.

It is with this vision in mind, as we together seek to be the voice, hands, and feet of Christ, that I am petitioning our pastors and churches to join with an ABCCONN movement of prayer called “ABCCONN Corporate Intercessory Group” currently in its formative stages. The purpose of the “ABCCONN Corporate Intercessory Group” is to lift up ABCCONN in all of its endeavors, including Camp Wightman, along with all of the pastors and churches.

As this letter began where God could not find intercessors in the land to pray for God’s intervention and guidance, we are saying to God “Yes! Intercessors are present in the land and are at their posts!” We are asking for at least one committed, praying person from each of our churches, to join in with the intercessory group, and will welcome your support in this endeavor. If there is more than one person from a church, we will gladly receive them. Being able to envision a large pool of intercessors affords us the opportunity to rotate corporate intercession on a regular monthly basis.

Please assist us in this endeavor to help you and our communities. For the intercessor's basic prayer charge, please click here.
